Opened on Alberta. A strange Thai fusion. Chef from Rio di Janeiro. The building is an old power substation. The person that decided this should be a restaurant was a big dreamer with lots of money. Walls 1' thick concrete. They took out a good portion of the inside walls, must have been a huge job. Ceilings high, with lots of skylights.

Killingsworth / Alberta - What was once a thriving and vibrant drug corridor is now replaced with a thriving and vibrant arts district with a drug problem. Lots of standouts here, like Alberta St Oyster Bar and Grill, Siam Society, Podnah's, and I'd even put (arguably) Portland's best restaurant, Toro Bravo, in this vicinity.

lovely hula hands is easily in my top five for portland. i have been there at least a dozen times and not once have i been disappointed with the overall quality of my experience. i have learned it is key to go early to avoid the wait. the service can, indeed, be quirky, but always friendly. my food is always good. the polenta is my favorite. excellent cocktails. i look forward to their move ...

Crab cakes are so often disappointing -- mushy or gummy, full of starchy filler. But these easy cakes are full of beautiful lump crabmeat, and a light panko coating ensures they fry up crispy and golden brown.

Husband and I had dinner at Sri Siam last night. It was a very nice experience and we will definitely return. Sri Siam is located on a side street off of Route 20 in Rensselaer. It is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. It is a casual, welcoming place. Service was friendly and efficient throughout our meal.

It depends on what kind of food you want--there's some decent places on NE Sandy Blvd that aren't too far, like Pho Oregon. There's some more options on NE Alberta, like Ciao Vito (Italian), Siam Society (Thai), or the reopened Alberta St Oyster Bar.

The other suggestions are great--a couple more neighborhoods: N Williams and Failing: Pix, Lincoln, Eat Oyster Bar, Ristretto Roasters, and the Fifth Quadrant brewpub all within spitting distance, and Ned Ludd is about five blocks to the east.

A native Portlander who hasn't been back to the city in 10 years, I'm taking my French husband to visit my beloved pacific northwest. I'd like him to get a taste of the fresh pacific northwest cusine but don't know where to start (apart from Wildwood which is on the top of my list).

Seaside doesn't have many fine dining options, but lots of beach food that's not bad (altho' there's bound to lots that's awful, too). If the razor clams are in season, you might find fried-clam-on-a-stick, real chowhound fare and delish, too.

Hi! I'm from Philly too, but moved to PDX about four years ago. There are many vegetarian options in this town. Along with Jill's suggestions, I would also try The Farm, located around SE 7th (my sense of direction has much to be desired, but you can probably google all these places for directions, location and reviews).

Great restaurants are few. The best thing in the area is Bigelow's fried clam place on Long Beach Rd by corner of Sunrise. Best pizza is Blue Moon in RVC- sit in the back close to the oven. Ethnic food is mostly pathetic. Lido Deli in Lido Beach is a good Kosher Deli.
